I had an great time at the symposium. I met some excellent folks and heard some excellent folks. Jim Jacobmeyer is one of the coolest guys I’ve ever met. He’s a former art teacher who volunteers his time to teaching art to at-risk kids while putting on festivals that benefit the city of Cedar Rapids and accordionists. If people bought him beer based on his goodness, he would be drunk every day.

Billy Campion is wonderful man. He plays in the bands Vic Thrill and The Bogmen. He’s helped out a lot of fellow musicians over the years. He recently hurt his back and is now having trouble financially. There’s a benefit for him on Friday, September 16 at Big Sky Works in Brooklyn. I went to Sara Schaefer’s apartment and her friend Nikki Glaser came over. Then more friends came over. Sara stuck a microphone in her Emmy’s globe and they listened to me and Eric Drysdale of the Colbert Report talk about stuff. They are really nice, sweet folks.
