New Music – Songs of Franz Schubert

I’ve been learning songs of Franz Schubert lately and decided to record some of his songs with my friend, David Fairchild. I’ve posted them on a myspace page:

    Hi Corn Mo,
A couple years ago I was in university studying composition and bass performance. You and Ben Folds were playing Tulsa, I had strep, but I decided to go anyway. I’m glad I did. Hearing you play and listening to you speak about music and your move into music as a career was profoundly inspiring to me; I felt like my entire department needed Corn Mo to breathe some life into music academia. In fact, my first thought was that you had the work ethic in performance as what I guess they call ‘classical’ musicians.

Anyway, I’d like to suggest that you crank out as many songs, cycles, pieces as you see fit. As soon as I heard you do Schubert I wanted to hear you do Fauré, Verdi, Debussy, anything in between. Schoenberg! Serial music sung by Corn Mo. Of course this was me being imaginative, but I at least wanted to share with you how exciting this discovery was for me, and how much I appreciate your musicianship. I hope you’re enjoying singing classical music as much as I am listening.

    Cheers,
    Aaron
