Frankenstein

SEVERED: The Tragic Loves of Frankenstein’s Monster
I collaborated with Angela Harriell from The Love Show along with David Slone and my band .357 Lover. I decided that if I was going to fail at something, I would fail big. The gamble paid off and I’m very, very proud of this. My friends volunteered their time to be in the choir: Chris Anderson, Philip Costello, Royce Peterson, Harlan Muir, Wilder Selzer, Robin Goldwasser, Ken Weaver, Crystal Durant, Cathy Cervenka, Cara Kohl, Joanna Choy and Alexis Karl.
I consider myself very fortunate to have friends who want to work with me.
We will do it again.

Here is “Here Come the Shine Shines”.

filmed live at the Highline Ballroom by
Scott R. Johnston, Allen Ferguson and Andrew Geller from evilolive 3000.

The Magic Is You

Lollipop
It's a lollipop time with you
and life just keeps getting sweeter
It's a lollipop time with you
and nothing else could be neater
So, hup, hup, hup, let's go
It's time for the Corn Mo show
It's a lollipop time, a lollipop time with you

I got a box of Jujubes
A bottle of Yoo-Hoo
and a couple of Mad Magazines
Toni Braxton's on the radio
I think I got it made-e-o
All I need is you here by me

Robert Holiday
Tuesday
Meatloaf Sandwich
Wednesday
Vienna Sausage
Thursday
He plays Pente with his mouth
Friday Friday
He sits on a basketball
Waiting for someone to kick it out
Friday Friday
I kicked it out from under him
Mrs. Green said, "Say you're sorry."
"I'm sorry."
"Not to me. To Craig."
And Craig said, "My name's not Craig. It's Robert Holiday."

His name is Robert
and he wishes too hard
his voice is too shrilly
and his wave is too largeWhen he speaks he ends his sentences with variations of the word "holiday" And when he eats, he looks at his dinner and says, "Hi, My name is Robert and I am going to eat you. Holiday! My name is Robert Holiday!"
He's the only kid in school who has seen the cartoon Genghis Khan.
He's the only kid in school who says he's never sinned.
I said, "Everyone's sinned."
"No, I haven't. Ask my grandmother. I've never been spanked."
"What about original sin?"
"I don't believe in original sin. And my name's not Craig. It's Robert Holiday."

Later that day he said, "You wanna play detective?"
"Ok"
Busey Boy
There was a young boy
who put brown rice on his eyebrows
put dried cranberries under his chin
Went to clubs
said, "Hey, my name is Brown Rice. Could you let me in for free?"
I said, "There's no cover. You got rice on your face."
He said, "Don't I know you from some place?"
I said, "Maybe. I don't know."
He said, "I think so. Weren't you in Silver Bullet with Corey Haim."
I said, "I think you got me mistaken because . . . "

I am not your Gary Busey boy
I am not your Gary Busey boy
I am not your Gary Busey
This absence of malice has gotten me quite upset
over you
Busey Boy, I'm not your Gary Busey boy
I'm sorry to disappoint you.
Busey Boy, I'm not your Gary Busey boy
I'm sorry that you're sad.
But, I'm not your Busey boy.

"Were you in the Buddy Holly Story?"
"Nope."
"Were you in the Lethal Weapon?"
"Nope."
"Were you in the movie about the guy in the attic who comes down sometimes?"
"No. I think you got me mistaken because . . ."

I am not your Gary Busey boy – love, love, love
I am not your Gary Busey boy – love, love, love
I am not your Gary Busey
This absence of malice has gotten me quite upset with you. Oh.

Goin to LA
Girl, I gotta go
Gotta do another show
to where rockers live and die
I don't know the reason why
I just gotta go
Fast cars, movie stars
We're gonna play some badass bars
There'll come a time we'll be on our way
we're gonna say "Hello, goodbye, LA!"

Hey, hey, hey
W'ere going to LA.
That's where we're gonna stay till we're big in LA

Whisky a Go Go here we come
We're not gonna stop until we're done with you
The night's alive with the neon lights
They come alive with me tonight in LA!

They try to stop us
They say, "It's over!"
I say, "No way man. I'm in .357 LOVER!"

Trade the night for the crack of dawn
Another lonely rocker's song.
I'm not gonna stop. I'm gonna stay.
I'm gonna kick some ass in LA!

The Baloney Song
I was just a slice of baloney lying between 2 slices of bread
waiting to be mustard(ed). The mustard was Grey Poupon and I soon
would be poop on a porcelein throne. Then, I would go sliding down
through pipes of metal, down to the sewer singing Disney songs with oreos,
then I would go plop into a bed of water. Again.

I'll Be Your Platypus
I wanna be
You're my favorite animal
I'll be a platypus
for you
We could swim around all day with our beaver tails
We could eat fish all day and not worry about how we smell

Bananas! (I've got bananas in my hands)
Yellow sometimes brown
They help me when I frown
When I'm going to my school or job each way
I don't put them in a bag unless the bag is clear
I only eat them with chocolate milk or beer

I've got bananas in my hands

10,000 and one times
I've used them more than dimes
to pay for cab fare or bike repair
or cleaning out my underwear
the lucky store is always there

"Cheez it, Rocky! It's the fuzz!"
"I can't outrun them!"
"Why?"
"Becuz I got bananas in my hands!"

Stay upon the lighted trail
When you've got the monkey mail
You got bananas in your hands.

I Wish You Were My Home
When I'm feelin down I listen to my b-sides
When my heart is heavy I listen to Nightranger
'Cause Kelly and Jack seem to know how I'm feelin
They got me through the 10th grade
Like an ocean evening of beer.
I wanna take you out and go to Tiny Town
and hold your hand while the old man shows us around to
Mr. T; Laverne and Shirley; Harry and Bess Truman
Were figures made of wood
I wish you were my home

Hold me once again
Before you let me go
Let me close my eyes and see the smile
That you could not control
I wanna look into your eyes
and let time and space pass me by
for just five minutes
I wish you were my home

Hold me once again before you let me go
I made a tape to hold my heart while it beats real slow
"Stage Fright"
"When You Close Your Eyes"
"Love in a Simple Rhyme"
will recess me to Kentucky
I wish you were my home

Being a Star Captain
Do I want cream?
Do I want butter?
Milk and cheese are what I know
If there's a chance we could make cream cheese
Slice it up for the guys
Time's not on our side the seconds are to days
of a school year wasted on just getting by
I wish I'd learned a little more
about the score
If the butter lasts longer than the cream
Can I make butter from the cream I'd have?
Will the ship loseWeight Exercise another staple if I don't make a decision now?

Being a Star Captain's not an easy thing to do
But my life is better than it was
Mindless workdays and tv nights
Waste away the mind and the tummy forgets what its hungry for

If I die today
I got eight months of living hard
I hope I receive eight minutes more
to know the score

What's That?
What is that in your pocket
In your left hand pocket
Is that love
for me?
Is that an electric locket
In your left hand pocket
Or sunshine in your heart

Oh, the sunshine
in your heart
makes the dark clouds go away
Oh, the sunshine
in your heart
turns my dark clouds into cotton candy

Picture Days
Second grade
New school
Plaid shirt
Granny's rule
Slowly trudge to the line
Toes straight
Record time

Always the same
Over too quick
Hair never worked
And clothes never fit
Intimate stranger
Telling lame jokes
Picture day at Seven Oaks

Seventh grade
Middle school
Braces, polo
Fashion rule
Cindy Shealy smiles
I burn
She's just posin'
Now my turn

Always the same
Over too quick
Hair never worked
and clothes never fit
Intimate stranger
At the snapshot bar
Picture days
at Campus R

Yearbook illustrations
Fashion for the ages
Girls who never kissed me
Boys who used to beat me
Never played football
Couldn't play the trumpet
But those dreams keep dancing
While the Kodacolor's fading

Eleventh grade
High school
Teal shirt
Girlfriend rules
Finally got this routine down
Childhood dies
Handsome frown

Always the same
Over too quick
12 years pass in a blink
Intimate strangers
Tracking my years
Picture days
Wish you were here.

Smiling for my picture day
Waiting for my picture day
Crying for my picture day
God, I love my picture day

Chocolate Cake
I can't be anything at all but me
When you slap my face to bring me down
I won't give you a frown
'Cause inside there's a giraffe
dancing and spinning cakes
on his head knocker, eye winker,
nosedripper, mouth eater,
chinchopper, foot kicker,
hands holding

Chocolate cake on the plates with cherries
Making my heart very merry merry Christmas
Hahahahahahaha
Happy birthday to you!

When I awake in the morning
Happy and a wee bit horny
'Cause I know my day for five minutes will be mine to dine on
The best thing that I know
Better than eating on fresh snow
I got Minnesota summers in my head

About

I write and play songs for Corn Mo and my band .357 Lover.

Corn Mo played in a jazz band. Then, a country band. Then, he did a recording session with another country band for a Kentucky Fried Chicken song contest. Then, he played in a rock band called Illusion. Then, he played a SIEL OR400 in a metal band called Without Warning. Then, he fronted another metal band called Tiruth. And then, high school was over and he found an accordion. So then, he joined a juggling troupe and provided a soundtrack for the jugglers. When that ended, he started a duo with another fellow named Mauve Oed. They opened for Tiny Tim.  And then, Mauve Oed left. Then, he used his OR400 synth for an art rock band called The Dooms UK. And then, they faded. And then, he started .357 Lover which became the band of what he tried to convey as solo artist. He decided to do both. Then, he joined a sideshow circus called The Bindlestiff Family Cirkus. He began touring and having adventures. He went to Alaska and played accordion for his aerialist girlfriend. He went to Europe with a circus cabaret and played on the streets. He opened for The Polyphonic Spree.  They had an extra bunk.  In order to ride on the bus he had to join the band.  So, he opened for them and then put on a robe after his set.   He enjoyed that band.  Then, The Polyphonic Spree and toured with David Bowie. That was a good time.  He hugged Bowie. And then, he left the Polyphonic Spree. After that, he toured with a burlesque group. They were pretty. And then, he did some shows with David Cross, Nick Offerman, Ben Folds, Tragedy, Wheatus and They Might Be Giants. It has been an excellent time for him. And it keeps getting better.

357 LOVER is Corn Mo’s band. Ron, Dave, Steve, Avi and Corn Mo. They play songs that Corn Mo plays solo and more.  They’ve opened for Ben Folds and They Might Be Giants. They’ve been the backing band for Andrew WK and John Cameron Mitchell (Hedwig). They went to SXSW stopping at different towns on the way and back to their hometown of Brooklyn, NY. They put on a rock opera at the Ars Nova Theater.  They’re currently rewriting it.  They released Diorama of the Golden Lion which follows the ep Your Favorite Hamburger is a Cheeseburger. The next release is on vinyl and it’s called The Purchase of the North Pole.

Press quotes:
“Corn Mo . . . makes music that
actually holds up on its own.”
– Neil Strauss, New York Times

“Corn Mo has one of
the most beautiful voices and natural charms
I’ve ever experienced. He is a grand man.”
– Andrew W.K.

“Corn Mo is the future of rock.”
– Kirk Miller, Rolling Stone

“Corn Mo uses this quirky soundscape to compose mini-anthems, heroic passages and chaotic polkas. If his spiritual father is Freddie Mercury, then his spiritual uncle is Tiny Tim.”
-Dallas Observer
